Located in the center of Vietnam, Hue was the capital city of Vietnam for approximately 150 years during feudal time (1802–1945), and the royal lifestyle and customs have had a significant impact on the characteristics of the people of Hue, even long afterwards. This morning, we will take cruise on the Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda. Then, visit the impressive tombs of King Minh Mang and Khai Dinh and then take time to visit Hue’s Ancient Citadel and Imperial City. Created in the 19th century, inside the citadel was a forbidden city where only the emperors, concubines, and those close enough to them were granted access; the punishment for trespassing was death. Today, little of the Forbidden city remains, though reconstruction efforts are in progress to maintain it as a historic tourist attraction.

The rest of day is free to explore the crowded market of Dong Ba where you can bargain for anything from souvenirs and bronze goods, to Hue sesame sweetmeat and conical poem hats. Accommodation in Hue

Around 7.30 am, we depart for Vinh Moc Tunnels. On the way, we crossed the Ben Hai River and Hien Luong Bridge. The river was important because it was the dividing line between North and South Vietnam. And then back on the bus to Vinh Moc Tunnels. The Vinh Moc Tunnels are an amazing achievement of human toil and engineering. The Vietnamese had constructed the tunnels to provide shelter from regular bombings by American planes. During the war, people lived in here, men and women fell in love, got married, and had babies, children were educated in the dark narrow passageways, and wounded soldiers were cared for and nurtured back to health. Looking at the tunnels, it was easy to understand why this small, beleaguered nation could take on the greatest military power on the planet and win. If your time is permitted, we visit Quang Tri Ancient Citadel. Quang Tri ancient citadel was built in 1824 by the order of King Minh Mang. It is located in Thach Han village, Hai Lang district, initially the citadel was a work of earth. Four years later it was rebuilt with bricks. In 1972 during the phasing out of the American intervention in the Vietnam Was, the liberation army seized the citadel from the Saigon troops. The stationing liberation troops had to suffer the heaviest and longest artillery and bombing attacks ever launched by the Saigon army to recapture the citadel. At present visitors to the site of the ancient Quang Tri Citadel can still see several pieces of brick wall of the citadel. They are all what have been left after the 36-day battle back in 1972. One can imagine these standing brick walls as some sort of war memorials to those fallen combatants in the fight at the Quang Tri citadel.

1. Cooking class at Red Bridge Restaurant (SIC class)

Pick up at your hotel and transfer to meeting point and then we start a nice day to discover the cultural cuisine of Hoi An. Stroll into the local market and interact with the local traders and purchase the ingredients for the cooking class. Take a leisurely cruise from the market along Hoi An river to the Red Bridge Cooking School where the well-known dishes of Hoi An will be prepared, during a chef’s demonstration.  You will prepare your own lunch, a special dining experience in a perfect location on the river, opposite the rice fields.

On arrival, explore the cooking school’s herb and vegetable garden, before learning about some of Hoi An’s and Vietnam’s well-known dishes. The cooking lesson runs for about 2 hours – each dish is first demonstrated by the Red Bridge chef’s, before preparing the same dish yourself. Including in the class is a brief introduction to Vietnamese food carving (plate decoration).

After the lesson, we sit down and eat exactly what we have cooked.

Day 2: Phnom Penh visiting

Breakfast + Lunch

Today we visit Royal Palace, built by King Norodom in 1866 on the site of the old town, and the Silver Pagoda. Located within the grounds of the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda is so named because of its floor, which is made up of 5000 silver tiles. The treasures found inside include a solid gold Buddha encrusted and weighing 90kilograms and a small 17th century emerald and baccarat crystal Buddha. Then we continue to explore the Toul Sleng Prison Museum and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek-both grim reminders of Cambodia’s bloody past under Pol Pot. It is almost inconceivable to confront the nature of true evil here in this gentle land, but the Buddhist memorial at Choeung Ek, commemorates the 1.7 million victims of the 1975-79 Pol Pot regime. This excursion may prove distressing for some. It is, however, an important piece of this country’s historical and cultural puzzle. We will also visit Wat Phnom Temple, Phnom Penh’s namesake, from where you can enjoy views over the tree-lined avenues of Phnom Penh during sunset. Overnight in Phnom Penh.

This architectural masterpiece was constructed in the 12th century and covers an area of about 210 hectares. We stroll around this massive edifice, seeing the many galleries with columns, libraries, pavilions, courtyards and ponds full of water reflecting the towering temple and the jungle covered temple of Ta Prohm is an incredible sight.
